LESSON 12 |
The Spiritual Application of the Blood for the Atonement
of the Soul!
Scripture Text: Lev 17:11, Hebrews 9:22
Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and
I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your
souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Notes: The blood in the flesh is like oil in a car! Shedding of blood
gives an atonement for the soul. Blood pays the price for atonement!
Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood;
and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Notes: It’s important that our sins be remitted or washed away from
the sight of God.
Matthew 16:15-19 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the
living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou,
Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but
my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art
Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell
shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of
the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall
be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be
loosed in heaven.
Notes: The prophetic word of the Lord concerning Simon Peter who identified
Jesus as being the Messiah, God in the flesh revealed to him through
divine revelation! The prophecy relates to the use of the keys to open
the Kingdom of God to whomsoever will!
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All
power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even
unto the end of the world. Amen.
Notes: The Great Commission concerning the Gospel and Baptism in Jesus
Name!
Mar 16:15-18 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized
shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these
signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents;
and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall
lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Notes: Baptism and the outpouring of God's Spirit!
Luk 24:46-49 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it
behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: Luk
24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in
his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses
of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you:
but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power
from on high.
Notes: Beginning at Jerusalem the Gospel being preached and the fulfillment
of the promise of the Holy Ghost!
THE FRIST OUTPOURING OF GOD’S SPIRIT!
Act 2:1-4 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were
all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from
heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where
they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like
as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with
the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit
gave them utterance.
Notes: The Birthday of the Church -- all where filled with the spirit
of truth!
Act 2:5-13 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men,
out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the
multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man
heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled,
saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians,
and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea,
and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt,
and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews
and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues
the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt,
saying one to another, What meaneth this? Others mocking said, These
men are full of new wine.
PETER USES THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM!
Act 2:14-35 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his
voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at
Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these
are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the
day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall
come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit
upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days
of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven
above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of
smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come
to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be
saved. Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man
approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God
did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being
delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have
taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised
up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that
he should be holden of it. For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw
the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should
not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad;
moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave
my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full
of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto
you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his
sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing
that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins,
according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his
soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This
Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being
by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father
the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now
see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith
himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until
I make thy foes thy footstool.
THE CONCLUSION OF THE FRIST MESSAGE PREACHED BY PETER!
Act
2:36-41 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that
God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and
Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart,
and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is
unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as
many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he
testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same
day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Note: These Scriptures below help to verify the importance of being
baptized in Jesus Name according to what is written referring to the
subject. This isn’t a denominational approach on the baptism, this is
strictly what the Bible states about being baptized and what it’s designed
to do for the soul. Read accordingly as needed to verify in your own
heart and mind the importance of being buried in Jesus Name!
Acts 8:12-17 But when they believed Philip preaching the things
concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were
baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and
when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding
the miracles and signs which were done. Now when the apostles which
were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they
sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed
for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:(For as yet he was
fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the
Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the
Holy Ghost.
Note: even Simon recognized the power of God and was baptized!
Acts 10: 43-48 To him give all the prophets witness, that through
his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which
heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished,
as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured
out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues,
and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that
these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as
well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the
Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Note: water baptism isn’t an option, it’s a command!
Acts 19:1-6 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth,
Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding
certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost
since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard
whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then
were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul,
John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the
people, that they should believe on him which should come after him,
that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in
the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them,
the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Note: they baptized unto John’s baptism which is only repentance but
they received with gladness the Good news of the Gospel!
Acts 22:15-17 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what
thou hast seen and heard. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized,
and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. And it came
to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed
in the temple, I was in a trance.
Note: The work of a true missionary anointed by the power of God!
Romans 6:2-4 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live
any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized
into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried
with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from
the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life.
Note: We are buried with Him in baptism and we are never the same again!
1 Corinthians 1:12-15 Now this I say, that every one of you saith,
I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is
Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the
name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and
Gaius; Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
Note: Whose Name are you baptized in?
Galatians 3:26-28 For ye are all the children of God by faith in
Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have
put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond
nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ
Jesus.
Note: Have you put on Christ?
Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are
called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in
you all.
Note: One, one, one and one all in one!
Colossians 2:11-13 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision
made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh
by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also
ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who
hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and
the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him,
having forgiven you all trespasses.
Note: An operation of faith to be buried with Him!
1 Peter 3:20-22 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the
longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a
preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The
like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting
away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience
toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven,
and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being
made subject unto him.
